Acer Chromebook Tab 10, World’s First Chrome OS Tablet

Google has launched two operating systems in the market, one is Android and another is Chrome OS. The Chrome OS released in 2011 on Chrome laptops launched by Samsung and Acer and it is based on the Chrome web browser for making the running system perfect for web applications. It looks like the Chrome OS will make its debut on a tablet. A few months ago, there was leaked photo of Acer tablet that runs on Chrome OS operating system. Now, the company officially launched the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 tablet.

Acer Chromebook Tab 10 tablet comes with a similar design as the previous tablets. There are thick bezels on all the sides which is very useful when holding the large device. There is selfie camera on the top side bezel and the company logo on the bottom side bezel. The Chromebook Tab 10 comes with smooth sides with a matte finish. The tablet is available in deep sea blue color, for now. We can expect more color in future. The body dimensions of the Chromebook Tab 10 are 172.2 x 238.2 x 9.98 mm and weighs 550g.

The Chromebook Tab 10 comes with a 9.7-inch display with 2048 x 1536 pixels of resolution that makes it one of the bigger display tablets in the market. It is powered by Hexa-core CPU under the hood, dual Cortex-A72 and Quad Cortex-A53 cores. It has shiny OP1 chipset on board, the same chipset also found before in the Samsung Chromebook Plus laptop and  ASUS Chromebook Flip C101.The OP1 chipset is developed by Google-owned Rockchip and optimized for the ChromeOS.

Acer’s Chrome OS tablet has 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage along with micro SD card support. It comes with the 5-megapixel camera on the back side and 2-megapixel camera on the front side for taking selfies and video calls. The Tab 10 also supports Wacom EMR stylus pen for writing notes and drawing. The Stylus doesn’t require charging, there is a slot on the bottom of the tablet for the stylus.

The ChromeOS tablet from Acer is packed with 34 Wh capacity battery inside the body that offers 9-hour battery life s on a single charge. It comes with USB-Type C port, Wi-Fi ac, 3.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 4.1 and even a display port for external display connectivity. The tablet also supports Google’s Play Store.

The company target the education market for Acer Chromebook Tab 10. The tablet will be available for the public purchase in The US market at $329. It will be available in  Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for €329 in May.
