Design & Features

The new device improves drastically over the predecessor. The chassis is based on the new “hinge forward” design as seen in recently launched Alienware 15 and 17 refresh. According to Alienware the new chassis is “upto 21 percent thinner” as well as allows for improvements in the cooling department.

The footprint is quite large (one pound heavier than previous generation) for a 13 inch gaming laptop. Considering the technical specifications pack a punch, the weight shouldn’t be a deal breaker. The logo, Alienware head and all caps “Alienware”, has undergone change and gives a more streamlined feel.

The most distinctive feature is the option of OLED display. The colours produced are rich and vivid. Watching 4K content on the screen appeals to eyes. The Alienware TactX keyboard has been optimised as well.

Alienware 13 R3 is currently available in US for a base model price of $1,119. The most expensive version with all the options, however, will set you back $2,649. As part of Black Friday deals, discount of upto $200 is being offered at Alienware website.
