Sony rolling out Android Oreo update for Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Plus and Xperia XA1 Ultra

Previously, Sony has rolled out the Android Oreo update for its premium devices, now the company starts rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for its mid-range devices. Sony has started rolling out Android Oreo firmware update for its Xperia XA1 series devices, Sony Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Plus and Xperia XA1 Ultra.

Sony launched the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Plus models at Mobile World Congress MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. While the another Xperia XA1 Ultra variant unveiled in August last year at IFA. All Xperia XA1 models come with pre-installed Android Nougat operating system out of the box.

Sony rolling out Android Oreo update for Xperia XA1, Xperia XA1 Plus and Xperia XA1 Ultra

The new Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Xperia XA1 series smartphones come with 48.1.A.0.116 build number and the size of update is 884 MB. Unfortunately, the new Android 8.0 Oreo update for phones come with the February security patch, while the latest March security patch is already available.

As of now, we don’t have a changelog for this new update, we can expect that the new update for the phones come with standard Android Oreo features, including notification channels, picture-in-picture mode, smart text selection, notification dots along with faster boot times and more. Previously, the company confirmed that the new Android Oreo update will remove the Night Light feature fro the Xperia XA1 series smartphones.

Sony Xperia XA1 comes with 5-inch 720p resolution display while the Xperia XA1 ultra has bigger 6-inch 1080p resolution display. Both the phones powered by MediaTek Helio P20 processor under the hood. The Xperia XA1 has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage on board while the Xperia XA1 Ultra has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB internal storage. On the other side, the Xperia XA1 Plus has 5.5-inch 1080 resolution display and powered by same MediaTek Helio P20 processor inside. The phone is available in 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB and 64 GB internal storage option. respectively.

All the Xperia XA1 variants have 23-megapixel Exmor RS camera on the back side. The Xperia XA1 and XA1 Plus feature an 8-megapixel camera on the front side while the Xperia XA1 Ultra has 16-megapixel with OIS feature.

Recently, Sony rolled out the Android Oreo update for Xperia R1 and R1 Plus phone in India. Last month at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 event in Barcelona, Sony has unveiled the successor of the Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA Ultra, Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra.
